YakisobaScans, (nearly) Three Years Later

And at last, we got a new cover in 5 years.

I still can’t believe that it has, somehow been almost 3 years since I first started releasing chapters for this group. Back then I was really fond of the series, and since there were no releases for 2 years, I thought it’d be really wonderful if someone stepped up and continued the series from where the last group ended. And so I did, releasing chapters with a few issues along the way, but still releasing through the second half of 2018. I also ate more than what I could possibly bite, picked up more stuff along the way and joined MangaDex Scans.

2019 passed, and I consider the first half of it to be the best year of the group. I did my best to avoid delays and at one point was releasing a chapter nearly every 3 days, all within a “new chapter must be delivered every 5 days schedule”. If I only could keep it for the rest of the group’s life… But as the release of Volume 8 drew near, I started getting lazy and probably also having issues with the group.
But ultimately, I got it to release, and kept releasing chapters, although not as frequently as I used to. I also left MD Scans over a lack of releases for the title I was doing around this time, but honestly I don’t remember much anymore.

Then, 2020 happened. You’d think that a global pandemic would have made me more productive and finally give me the opportunity to catch up with Japan, right? Well, no. During the early months I was fine, but as the year passed, I started getting involved with other communities. After Chapter 115’s release, I tried to return to scanlation various times, sometimes with OK results, but more often than not ultimately not motivated to keep up.

I also realized how my life was going, and started to focus more on my studies and what I really wanted to do. Ultimately, I decided to focus on that in favor of scanlation.

It’s now 2021. I have realized that, if I want to preserve the Kill Me Baby series and see it get timely updates, then I probably am not the person who will eventually do it. I want to see such a thing being done, so ultimately I don’t mind passing the baton whether directly or indirectly to other, more capable persons.

Kudos to Kaduho, who was following me on Twitter at one point, all the people who worked with me on the scanlations at some point, Ooya-san, who gave me raws for a few chapters and everyone who has ever seen my releases, whether stumbled upon a meme of my panels or read them all multiple times.

Baby, please rest in peace. 2018-2021.
